The Rediscovery

Back | Up

Cymbidium ensifolium Jiao He "elegant crane" has a variegation that resembles a semi-dry paint brush being touched on the leaves. The variegation comes on the new growths in the spring, and sometimes disappears...like the elegant crane.

The Rediscovery

There is an ancient Chinese proverb that says, "when you seek a path to your goal, and your journey is blocked by a high mountain, what you are truly seeking may already be in your midst".

So was my rediscovery of the Asian Cymbidium species. Their elegance, fragrance and grace were always there, in that corner of my greenhouse. It was because I was so busy searching for the next showy orchid specimen to add to my collection that I did not take time to identify the needs of the Asian Cymbidiums. By applying the principles of their natural habitat, I have unlocked a unique beauty, a kind of harmony between flower, plant and container that reflects thousands of years of history.

Thank you for sharing my Journey.....Eric Wolff
