Fertilizing Tips
- Reduce fertilizer severely during
the dormant period, October to March. A once a month foliar application should
be sufficient in cool climates
- Do No apply fertilizer at temperatures
higher than 85° F (32°C).
- When fertilizing during the summer
season, only apply fertilizer during the cool moorings
- When applying foliar fertilizer,
wet the leaves with clear water before spraying the fertilizer. This wets
the leaves, washing away any dust or accumulated salts.
- When fertilizing the plant during
watering, do not wet the leaves. Watering the leaves slows down the uptake
of fertilizer by the roots
- For variegated varieties use a
slightly reduced nitrogen content to avoid fading the color.
- Never mix pesticides in with organic
or chemical fertilizers; this can cause harmful chemical reactions and may
damage the plants and yourself.
